coincidentally, the holidays have begun! or rather, it's one more month till term exams.

anyhow, updates:

1. the library is a goood place. picked up magic school bus dvd. heh.

AND QoA AND KoA :DDD

2. i do not like that i have to spend my holiday homeworking and studying.

i need a break/by some provincial lake

3. writing is going well, in every area except actual writing. have a lot a lot of plots frothing in my head. oh and during free periods in school i actually managed to write some versy stuff.

recently have been having trouble with versy things, as i notice my poems are getting very abstract (you might say they were abstract in the first place, but now even more so). which i think resembles modern poetry. that in general would be a lot of pretty feelings and shades strung together rather incomprehensibly. it is fashionable, i suppose, but i find it irritatingly lazy. and my writing is becoming so! :(

here is a poem! which i find to be not too abstract. fyi, Duiker wrote a definition of nationalism. which i have had to memorise D:

Tendons and pistols all fail to induce
A resurgence of the self-aware muse.
If you were a cliche, would you come out?
Rather, muse on what Duiker is about.

holiday time! <3

tis my one week holiday! and despite it being for ONLY ONE WEEK and there being my horrific piano exam and the splodge of homework - i'm awfully excited about it!

therefore...i bring 3 bad poems written in school at various odd times. *coughs*

I have lost the ability to pine-
Seen too many cavorting pilgrims come
Oscillate at zero (I) like a sine
Graph calm and unending - hear the curve hum,
The call lost in a vortex of static.

Dew ellipses crowd the sparse yawning pane.
They trace the path of a vertical walk,
Prowling through time, leverage and steel
To meld with the liquid breath of flesh.

These would like to know how I feel today-
Every smiling burnished toy that eats
The mildewed fluff of nostalgia (hate words),
'Cause they care to salvage the faint misfits.

more poems!

thorns
Was that a cockerel's crow or a laugh?
Though it does not signify to a man
Repairing a sorrow rent in half-
He listens but for tears, best as he can.

n: rereading this, i do not like. banking on storebought emotions. i must have been real emo or sth when writing it O.o

O ne'er remove me from this blanket green-
Grant freedom, or distress shall kill my spleen!
(What that rank organ doeth, I wot not)-
What really counts in laments is the thought.

n: HAHA. this is much better.

My nose rarely connects with the white wall
'Cept when I'm feeling oh so, oh so, tall.
Hubris is no starry-eyed, half-wit maid-
She's the panel noting each word you said.

n: well. i think this started out nice but died when the decription laden maid came in.

A little fire would do you much good
Orange pulses travelling through the wood.
I'm no arsonist - just trying to say
Fuel and oxygen can go a long way.

i really really ought to post something. so, here is a poem from me failed nanowrimo! it came out of staring at playmobil tribune's helmet. (his name is Publius!) don't ask =P

That golden helmet with its furbelows,
I - struggle to grasp; pant furiously.
Knowing this half-complexion does not suit
Torrid yellow, unnerves me far too much.

more to come, if i remember to do so! :D

i have not been posting =(

 i'm SO bored. um.

1. i'm progressing tolerably in my modified version of nanowrimo, which is to write a 4 line poem each day. hardly compares to writing thousands of words for a novel, i know. shall post them when it's all over!
2. i dislike being unable to write happy poems. i start out happy, then it suddenly gets a little morbid twist at the end. i start it gloomy so i can turn it into happy at the end, then it sounds contrived and soap opera ish. =(
3. and i'm so bored i'm iconing CARROTS. i can't belive this. *covers eyes*
4. SCHOOL was OVER!...a week ago.
5. playmobil is <3.
6. much love to everybody!

 Leave your name, and:

1. I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll tell you which song or movie you remind me of.
3. I'll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle you in.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
(if possible.)
5. I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something I've always wondered about you.
8. I'll tell you my favorite thing about you.
9. I'll tell you my least favorite thing about you.
10. If you play, you MUST post this on yours

 VIII. The Picnic

The skewed stew in the bear hug of a pot -
And our scarecrow river would embrace't too.
Purloined thunder furrows both liquid storms -
We ladle the skeins, toss them o'erhead.

N: this just felt like home, and me, and i don't know why. beef stew is love? scribbled in class, on the back of a list of lit exam questions. i'm so glad i finally have a poem to share.

dear f-list, if you have the time, read Mimus by Lilli Thal and tell me what you think of it. PLEASE. GOOD STUFF AWAITS.

in conclusion, there is so much lost potential here it makes me ache. despite all that, it's still a very good book. something i won't get tired of. now that's something. read it too.

p.s. Florin - i thought of Princess Bride at once. HAHA.

VII. Cat. Cradle

Stretch the promise over your outstretched palm
Flake it thin for errant goats to saunter -
Calmly they push and pass through the fibre
Existence. No regrets in tinted thread.

like, a short one after that insanely long one. finally. scribbled this in school; i notice i have a thing for the word fibre. i don't exactly like it, but it always creeps out in my writing. i also have a thing for writing in naughty sheep/goats/small grazing animals - they're always gallivanting around. stuff of random.

VI. I Am Tired

The old man weaves his gnarled limbs like a child,
Passing fingers over his too large heart.
He knows they gather round, the flock of flies
Apprehending the final spurt of blood.

Marius, love, eat your broccoli and peas
Pay attention in school and do me proud
Never let my entreaties to you cease
Till I am encased in a tired shroud.

The relatives, the relatives they wait,
Not for sack gown to cease convolutions
But for the thick gold chain about his neck
And for the fortunate name he will speak.

Marius, this necklace was my wedding gift
You hung it on my shoulders twelvemonth ago
It is yours again, wear it for my sake
When you see me soon in the grave, laid low.

"Water!" tumbles into his parched, breaking mouth
Infuriating the impatient brood.
He will use only the little chipped cup
But one must humour an old man's fancies.

Dearest daddy, my head does hurt and my
Mind feels fit to fly out of aching body.
Remember to feed Sally-doll red tea,
And only in the chipped cup - I love you.

The hour draws nigh, the blanch and quiver
Of face indicates thinning heart wall.
"Who is it?"they whisper. "Name one!" they chant.
He reels in his bed from dying disgust.

Then a thought comes to mind, tangerine, sublime.
"I am ready!" he speaks o'er the mad crowd.
They come an inch closer, to hear last breaths.
"Mother, wife, daughter!" he sighs, quite tired.
Angry murmurs in this cacophony
Laughter at the aged's simplicity.
"They are dead," they hiss, "and you will be too."
He smiles wanly. "You are fools! Ev'ry wife
With her wedding dress, every mother
Breathing deep, every daughter resting."

No interjection, he shuts wearied
Eyes - they know the rest, his rest is silence.
And the puzzled assembly withers, dies
As they, checked, murmur, "Mother, wife, daughter!"

is quite satisfied with sentimental earlier bit, but i think i mussed up the ending again. oops. comments greatly appreciated. <3

V. The Upset of the Natural Order

Languid seals rocked in the tumultuous sea
Seeking to uncover blubber in fish.
Obviously unsuccessful. To extremes!
One knows humans have the best stock of
                                                                                   fat

okay, i know this one's downright bizzare. yay for meaningless! this was sort of a warm up exercise before i rewrote my story's beginning. was pretty apprehensive about rewriting, so needed to scribble this to loosen self express pent up feelings so now you know what i think about when stressed. love suggestions on how to straighten out my brain give this sense.

Download Day

firefox is LOVE =D basically, they're trying to get into guiness records for having largest no. of downloads on tuesday. so go downloaddd! i'm pretty excited, and have a feeling that it's going to be good. cute foxie.

on a completely different note, some days ago i bought Wives and Daughters (Elizabeth Gaskell) and Rob Roy (Sir Walter Scott). i expect a lot from W&D after reading the intro haha. couldn't resist so i went and watched the W&D miniseries on youtube. it was by Andrew Davies, so i kept my eyes all peeled for nakedish or wet shirt people. fortunately, there weren't any such people (so far, still have ep. 4 to go). unless you count shirtless Osborne (how to spell??) hugging his pregnant wife (fully dressed) and hugging her tum. then there is shirtless Roger wandering through the wilds of Africa and growing a scary beard. i am so proud of Andrew Davies for reining in his tendencies. *pats* oh oh and just to keep things in perspective - Osborne be Mr. Collins from 05' P&P. and Keeley Hawes was Cynthia. squee! (and did anybody know that Cynthia was a derivative of Hyacinth?)

incidentally, i don't like corn flakes

You Are Corn Flakes

You are traditional and easy going.

If something is high quality, you're satisfied with it.

You don't need much variety or novelty in your life.

You're happy with what you have. You're quite loyal.

You're the type of person who eats the same breakfast every day...

And likely at the exact same time each day!
